In Town

Salida, which means exit in Spanish, is an entrance to some of Colorado's highest country. It's surrounded by a dozen of the state's 58 14ers — mountains that are more than 14,000 feet high. Along with climbing visitors can enjoy white water rafting, fishing, exploring the Historic downtown area with plenty of art galleries, local restaurants, and local places to shop. From the Silver Ridge Lodge Downtown Salida is about a mile away. You can easily get there by car, walk, bike, or call our local taxi or lyft for a ride.

Outdoors

The Salida, Colorado area is maybe best known for its easy access to several 14ers, which accommodates a wide range of hiking abilities. The Collegiate Peaks are some of the best known as well as most accessible. The mountains are known as Collegiate Peaks because of their namesakes derived from five famous universities. Check out Salida Mountain Sports for gear and maps. There are also many moderate hikes like Old Monarch Pass, Lost Lake and Waterdog Lakes.
